| Issaquah Garden Club | Beautifying the local environment |

Issaquah Garden club was formed in November 1928 and is one of the oldest garden clubs in the state. They participated in their first town clean-up in April 1929 and held their first flower show in June 1929. They have an annual plant sale to help raise funds for community service projects. They have sponsored a float award in the Issaquah Salmon Days parade since 2004 and planted a native plant historical garden at the Issaquah Historical Society in 2005.
They dedicated a Blue Star Memorial marker in 2007 and planted native plants around it in 2008 and 2009. In 2008 the club celebrated it’s 80th anniversary. Club members provide holiday centerpieces at the Issaquah Nursing Home four times a year and honor Arbor Day by a donation to the City for the Arbor Day tree planting every year. Club members study and promote horticulture and donate food to Issaquah food bank. Members continue to contribute and participate in several civic development projects in Issaquah and the surrounding community.
Earth Day
Issaquah Garden Club will have a 10 foot by 20 foot space at Pickering Barn for a Petite Small Standard Flower Show, a Victory Garden display and a small information table where visitors can ask questions about the club. The Victory Garden display will have sample container-planted food gardens. We want to encourage the public to grow plants (both edible and ornamental) whether they have a large garden or just a balcony.
In these tough economic times, it makes sense to “grow your own” to save on money and gas. It’s been years since our garden club held a public flower show and this will be the first one at Pickering Barn. The show will feature petite, miniature, dwarf and tiny designs and horticulture. The name of the flower show will be Dynamic Dainty Dimensions.
